EducationI am entering my fourth year as a Conservation Biology student at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York, USA. Currently I am studying abroad in Australia at James Cook University in Smithfield, Queensland.
ExperienceConservation Biology (as a major course of study at St. Lawrence) covers topics concerning Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science/Studies, GPS/GIS, Global Studies and Economics. As a senior student I have much experience in these areas and relevant class work under my belt such as:
Biology 101 and 102, Environmental Science 101, Economics 100, Ecology 121, Behavioral Ecology 221, Plant Systematics 319, GPS/GIS 221, Global Studies 101 and 310 (to name a few). I have also taken courses in Computer Science, Statistics and Art.
For the past 3 years I have been involved in various research projects and have worked with organizations such as Save the Bay as an intern.
HobbiesI love the outdoors. I love to hike, kayak in the summer and ski in the winter. I enjoy reading a good book, creating art using various medias and listening to music from a variety of genres. I have also been known to play video games, repair laptops and build desktops in my spare time. I am a versatile person with equally diverse interests.
That being said, I understand the many interesting things the world has to offer in the way of excitement and fun but also understand that these things must come second to the more important things in life such as studies. I often try to incorporate the passions of those I teach into the tutoring experience through instructive examples and suitable study environments based on the individual's interests. Not only does this help to instruct the individual but it makes the learning interesting; no one ever said that learning could not be fun.
